Our Taste of Crete Extra Virgin Olive Oil is special. The famed Koroneiki olives of Crete are handpicked and pressed almost immediately resulting in an oil of exceptional flavor and quality. With an extremely low acidity (0.3%), this oil delivers that mild peppery taste characteristic of olive oils containing high level of antioxidants. This oil carries the PDO Protected Designation of Origin seal. This is a highly coveted status given by the European Union to identify food products that due to traditional processing techniques, local climate, or particular indigenous plant life are unique to a given area. As the PDO seal suggests, this oil from Sitia is made in much the same way as it has for hundreds of years. Olive oil is the backbone of the Taste of Crete Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a great oil for cooking, for salads, and for anything that requires a high quality oil. We use it in salads with on steamed vegetables mixed with lemon juice, drizzled over fish, or as a base for sauces and dips. 500 ml / 6 bottles per case. |
